First State este proiectul a doi producatori olandezi de muzica trance, Ralph Barendse si Sander Van Dien. Ralph Barendse este unul dintre cei mai de succes artisti, care au semnat la label-ul 'In Trance We Trust'. Cunoscut cu numele de Ralphie B., produce hit-ul 'Massive' iar in 2002 Barendse are un real succes cu hit-ul 'Midway', sub titulatura de Monkey Forest - a fost preluat de toti dj de top din intreaga lume in acea perioada. In 2003 Sander isi incepe cariera profesionala in EDM, dupa ce-l cunoaste pe Ralph Barendse, care i-a cerut lui Sander sa remixeze hitul 'Amazon'. Remix-ul a fost imediat inregistrat la Black Hole Recordings. In acel moment Sander deja avea cateva lansari de succes, precum 'Deviod - Cremona / Arella' si 'Sander van Dien -Terms'. Astfel, in 2005 Sander si Ralph se decid sa colaboreze sub alias-ul First State, primul lor single fiind 'First State', care a adus un succes imediat si a fost lansat pe sub-label-ul 'In Trance We Trust'. Track-ul a primit un sprijin puternic din partea lui Tiesto, care l-a inclus in exclusivitate in multe din seturile sale, cu mult inainte de restul dj-ilor. In vara anului 2006 First State lanseaza la Black Hole Recordings single-ul 'Evergreen'. Dupa aceasta aparitie cei doi si-au propus sa lanseze un album. Si intr-adevar, dupa 12 luni de munca, a fost finalizat albumul lor de debut, 'Time Frame'. Albumul prezinta un sunet unic si influente din multe genuri: house, trance, minimal, pop si clasica - este o adevarata demonstratie a ceea ce poate face acest minunat duo. Pe acest album sunt incluse diverse colaborari fructuoase cu vocalisti si artisti celebri (Tiff Lacey, Elliot John, Anita Kelsey). Ralph si Sander au dat lovitura cu piesele 'Falling', interpretata de Anita Kelsey si 'Your Own Way', colaborare cu vocalistul Elliot John. 'Falling' a aparut si in a sasea editie a compilatiei 'In Search Of Sunrise' (Tiesto).
Anul 2008 aduce un mare ''boom'' pentru First State, cei doi baieti fiind solicitati sa remixeze track-uri pentru 'Elements Of Life' - Tiesto, 'Imagine Remixes' - Armin van Buuren si de asemenea, au fost inclusi pe 'A State Of Trance 2008' - Armin van Buuren. Pe langa succesul extraordinar din studio, First State a fermecat si evenimentele de renume mondial la care au participat: Premiere DVD Tiesto, Gatecrasher Ucraina, Intuition Invites, 'In Search Of Sunrise Tour', Crazy Summer Music Festival (Shanghai), Dance Planet Fort Edition (St.Petersburg), Tranceforlife Decibel (Italia), Trance Energy (Olanda), Global Gathering (Polonia) si Serenity (Olanda).
